Privacy Policy
My Shift Calendar is designed as a local-first shift planning app. Your personal schedule is kept on your device unless you explicitly choose to export, share, or copy information to another app or account.
1. Who this policy applies to
This Privacy Policy explains how My Shift Calendar handles information when you use the Android application. The app is intended to help you manage personal shift schedules, repeating work patterns, reminders, time-off planning, estimated earnings, widgets, sharing and calendar export.
My Shift Calendar does not operate a user-account system, cloud schedule service, or developer-controlled backend for your personal schedule.
2. Information stored on your device
The app stores the information needed to provide its features in private application storage on your device. Depending on the features you use, this can include:
- shift dates, shift types, start/end times and unpaid breaks;
- repeating shift-pattern templates and manual schedule changes;
- days off, vacation and sick-leave entries;
- personal notes you choose to enter;
- reminder settings, app language, appearance, time zone and other preferences;
- optional estimated-earnings settings, such as currency, hourly rates and user-defined premiums;
- local backup/recovery information and limited reminder diagnostic information;
- local mappings used to safely manage calendar events that you explicitly export from the app.
This information is used locally to calculate and display your schedule, summaries, reminders, widgets, leave-planning suggestions, earnings estimates and exports. We do not receive your personal schedule, notes or earnings settings on a My Shift Calendar server, because the app does not use such a server.
3. Advertising, consent and data processed by Google
My Shift Calendar is a free app supported by advertising. It uses Google AdMob / Google Mobile Ads SDK and Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) for advertising and privacy choices.
Depending on your region, consent choices, device settings and Google's SDK configuration, Google Mobile Ads may automatically process information such as:
- your device's IP address, which can be used to estimate general location;
- app and ad interaction information;
- diagnostic and performance information;
- device or advertising identifiers, such as the Android advertising ID or app-set identifiers, where available and permitted.
Google states that these categories may be used for advertising, analytics and fraud prevention. Ad personalisation and related processing can depend on your consent, region and Google/device privacy settings.
My Shift Calendar does not send your shift names, schedule dates, personal notes or earnings settings to AdMob as ad-targeting data.
Google processes advertising-related data under its own policies. You can review Google Privacy Policy and My Ad Center.
4. Information you choose to share or export
Schedule images (PNG)
You can generate and share a monthly calendar image. Private notes are excluded by default and are included only if you explicitly enable that option. On Android, the system share sheet lets you choose the receiving app. A temporary share file may remain in the app cache for a limited period and may be removed sooner by Android. Deleting all app data also removes the app's temporary exports.
ICS calendar files
You can save or share an ICS calendar file. This is a user-initiated export. Once you give that file to another application, service or person, their privacy and retention practices apply.
Direct Android calendar export
If you choose direct calendar export, the app asks for calendar access only for that feature. It lets you select a writable calendar and can create, update or remove events that the app can verify as its own exported events. The app does not intentionally import unrelated calendar events.
If the destination calendar belongs to a Google or other synchronized account, the events you export may be uploaded or synchronized by that account provider. That processing is controlled by the provider of the calendar account, not by My Shift Calendar.
Backup files
Backup files can contain your portable app settings, schedule templates, notes and optional pay settings. Backup files are not encrypted by My Shift Calendar. Protect them appropriately and store them only in locations you trust. Once a backup is saved outside the app, My Shift Calendar cannot automatically delete it.
5. Android permissions and special access
The app may request the following permissions or system access only when needed for the corresponding feature:
- Notifications: to show shift reminders and reminder actions.
- Precise alarm access (optional): if you choose more precise reminder timing. This is separate from notification permission.
- Calendar read/write access (optional): when you choose direct export to an Android calendar.
- Network access: for advertising, consent services and user-initiated external links or destinations.
The app uses Android's system share and document interfaces rather than requesting broad storage access for ordinary file sharing/saving.
6. Notifications and widgets
Reminder data needed for Android to schedule notifications is stored locally in a reduced native runtime format. Personal notes, earnings settings and advertising information are not included in that reminder runtime data.
Reminder wording is generic by default. If you choose to display more shift details, those details may appear in Android notifications according to your device's lock-screen and notification settings. Notes and earnings are not included in reminder notifications.
Home-screen widgets display schedule information locally. They do not display your notes, estimated earnings or ads.
7. Data retention and deletion
Your local app data remains on your device until you change or delete it, use Delete all app data, clear the app's storage in Android settings, or uninstall the app.
Because My Shift Calendar does not operate a cloud account for your schedule, we generally cannot remotely access or delete schedule data that exists only on your device.
External copies are different:
- backup, PNG and ICS files you saved or shared remain wherever you placed or sent them;
- events exported to an external calendar may remain in that calendar unless you remove them there or use the app's supported ownership-checked cleanup while the local export mapping is still available;
- data processed by Google for advertising is retained according to Google's own policies and your available Google/device privacy controls.
8. Security
Local schedule data is kept in private app storage and uses versioned files with integrity and recovery checks designed to reduce the risk of accidental corruption. Sensitive schedule content is not intentionally included in advertising data.
Google states that data collected by the Google Mobile Ads SDK is encrypted in transit using TLS.
No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely risk-free. In particular, exported backup, calendar and image files can leave the app's protected storage when you choose to save or share them. You are responsible for the security of the destination you select.
9. Your choices
- You can use the core schedule without creating an account.
- You can choose whether to enable reminders, precise timing, detailed notification text and direct calendar export.
- You can decide whether private notes are included in supported exports.
- You can review available advertising privacy choices through the app when required by Google's consent system.
- You can delete local app data from inside the app or through Android settings.
- You can manage Android permissions at any time in your device settings.
10. Third-party services
The principal third-party service used by the app for data processing is Google for advertising and consent. If you explicitly share/export content to another app or calendar provider, that destination becomes a separate third party chosen by you.
Third-party services may process information in countries other than your own. Their processing is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
11. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when app features, SDKs, legal requirements or data practices change. The updated version will show a new “Last updated” date. Material changes should be reflected in the app and Google Play disclosures where required.
